Valve’s Steam Summer Sale is a ten-day or so long event in summer where games are sold for a fraction of their price. Each day, a list of game bargains are offered on the site that are usually off in the 50% to 75% range. And while you may have seen one or the other game before as a daily deal on the site, it is usually a great time to increase your game collection on the cheap.
This year, Valve has added an extra feature that some users may like. Flash Sales is a new feature where games are offered in two hour intervals for a short period of time.
But that is not the only thing new this summer. Community deals are another new feature where Steam users can vote for one of three games every eight hours to see that game being offered for a huge discount in the store.
The summer sale starts with some great offers right on its first day. The Total War Shogun 2 series for 75% off, the excellent Dungeon Master-like game Legend of Grimrock for 60% off, Terraria and Portal 2 for 75% off, Heroes VI for 50% off and for those who like Call of Duty, the Modern Warfare 3 part of the series for 50% off. For Flash Sales, you currently get Mafia II and Deux EX Human Revolution for 75% off both.
And if you like to go all in, you may be interested in some of the pack deals instead. The Bethesda Softworks Collection for 70% off for instance which includes The Elder Scrolls Skyrim, all Fallout New Vegas contents and Brink. Sega tops that by offering all of their Steam games, including all Total War series games, as a pack for 87% off.
